Olga Brovkina

Olga Brovkina started Furniture Connection in 2008 as an interior design and home staging company. With exquisite taste for trendy and beautiful home décor pieces and a natural talent for design, Olga applied loving details to the homes she decorated. She transformed homes for clients and home buyers into stylish works of art. Staging homes was her passion, and Olga had the vision and creativity needed to convert a home into the most attractive version of itself.

As the years went by, Olga and Furniture Connection continued to increase its collection of exceptional furniture and decor pieces. The company was able to build up a large inventory of stylish furniture, accessories, and art so it could expand its scope of services and offerings. In parallel with the design work, a logical, accurate computerised inventory management and maintenance system was developed to accurately track goods, services, and payments to ensure the best upkeep of furniture. Many other interior designers and stagers started to use Furniture Connection services.

Olga was inspired to contribute more to Calgary’s furniture scene after she noticed a lack of furniture stores specializing in “cool” and “modern” pieces. In 2011, she opened Crave Furniture, which offered modern and good quality European furniture at an affordable price.

Developing both businesses and her rental and staging services was an enormous undertaking – it took a tremendous amount of time, dedication, courage, and effort. Olga was always full of plans and energy, and her brilliant business sense and passion for her work was evident to everyone she worked with. Everything seemed to be going in the right direction until a little cowardly “c” word came in the way.

Olga passed away at home on July 5, 2017. In the weeks before, even though her strength was not what it used to be, Olga was still a regular fixture at Furniture Connection. She would often stop by the store with a beautiful smile on her face to check on the business, update the website, and give design recommendations.

While the current company undergoes a transition, we felt that it was important to update our brand with a more modern and personal look that would respect our past and support our journey into a new future. Our new logo reflects the simplicity, comfort, and ease our Furniture Connection team works hard to achieve in our business interactions. The little blue bird honours the spirit of Olga, our late founder, who started Furniture Connections in 2008, and whose legacy lives on today.
